An old acquaintance never went anywhere without his crystals. He swore their powers were not only energy giving, but also relaxing. His faith in these most ancient objects has never marked this person as a crackpot or a loony because increasingly in the Nineties people are turning away from traditional medicine to look again at primeval wisdom. Electro-Crystal Therapy amalgamates the best of the power of crystals with modern techniques of amplifying their healing properties. Small futuristic-looking machines, which fit into a room in Finchley resident Mark Lester's flat, are apparently producing breathtaking medical results. Mark claims: "These machines can help everything from digestive problems to cancer, M.E. and multiple sclerosis".

The machines work by using crystals as a channel for high-frequency electro-magnetic waves. The waves and the energy in the crystals complement and amplify the power of each other. Bendy, hard, round and straight contraptions containing crystals are fitted to the machines, depending on which area of the body needs the therapy. It operates by working on the principle that all living cells have in-built electrical charges that electro-crystal therapy regulates. Despite involving electric charges, Mark maintains there is no danger involved. "The only 'side effect' it might have is that it may over relax you," said Mark. He became involved in Electro-Crystal Therapy after a life long interest in alternative medicine led him to the home of Harry Oldfield, the inventor of the electro-crystal generators. "He was getting results with everything," said Mark. "I was amazed to see truly astonishing results with no side effects or discomfort."

Areas of energy in the body are first examined by one of the machines while the patient holds a crystal rod. Like one of Star Trek's Dr. Spock's machines, Mark takes readings from all areas of the body testing for positive and negative readings which determine where the injuries lie. From there he can tell where the therapy needs to be applied.

One of the therapy's biggest advantages for Londoners is the state of relaxation it induces, according to Mark "Nine out of ten people I treat are over stressed." he said. Margaret, 54, from Finchley who had been suffering from eczema and stress since the death of her husband has been seeing Mark since he started a year and a half ago. "From the start I felt much better and more relaxed", she said. "Around my neck it was practically raw, but now it is healed", as she proceeded to demonstrate to me. The therapy can also help more serious illnesses. Jenny Cole, 47, from Crouch End, uses the therapy for her breast cancer. " When I began, I was undergoing chemotherapy so I was keen to make sure that my body was as healthy as it could be. I was very weak, tired and washed out from the effects of the chemo. Soon after I started having treatment with Mark I had a lot more energy and an improved sense of general well being". Mark may be contacted by calling the number below:
